Here is one more Blog from another great crafter selling through The Wishing Tree. Written in his own words, Victor is a very tallented Woodturner from Norwich, and we are proud to have his work on sale both in the shop and online.

My name is Victor Cracknell, and I have been working with wood all my working life of 49 years as a carpenter and joiner and as a wood machinist, taking up woodturning about 4 or 5 years ago.
2 years ago, several of us woodturners got together and formed Norwich Woodturners, of which I am Chairman, and we have around about 60 members all very interested in wood and what they can make from it.
I like turning native timbers, mainly Yew, Laburnam and sycamore, making apples, pears, mice and other small pieces to sell through The Wishing Tree.
Some of the other small things are pendant necklaces, which are turned off centre in a variety of specially selected woods, looking for unusual grain patterns and colours which will look good on a pendant. Also bracelets in Yew, Maple, Pear, Lacewood and rings, all of which are on the shelf and online in The Wishing Tree.
I also like segment turning, which is where you glue lots of pieces of wood together to make different patterns, and then turn an object, like the segmented apples and pears on the website.
One of the pieces I made has a story behind it, The Love Goblet, and it begins with a young man who is courting a young woman and he goes off into the forest to find a piece of wood to make the goblet. If he is really keen on the young woman he will take time to select a really good piece of wood that will not split and will last as he hopes his love will. If he does not think it will last he will just pick up a piece that will last for a short while. He then takes it back to his workshop and makes the love goblet, to include 3 captive rings on the stem, one for the engagement ring one for the wedding ring and one for eternity. When finished he gives it to his young woman, and if it stays all in one piece and doesn't split so will his love, but if it splits or the rings break so will his love.

Hello all.

As I am a new crafts person to The Wishing Tree, I thought I’d introduce myself to you all, so you know a bit about the my background and my ceramics, one of the many great things about buying locally made work.

I’ve always had a huge interest in nature, and crafts, and although for most of my childhood I made a lot from textiles, clay seemed to be the closest to a natural source as I could get. I, like many children, used to love playing in the mud, I think being a potter is a natural progression from this.

Like I said above I was always into textiles and I almost went to do a degree in fashion at Salisbury university. Luckily I chose to go to Lowestoft college to stay closer to home and did a BA (Hons) degree in design crafts. In this we got to have a go at everything, woodwork, metal work, textiles and ceramics. I was still adamant I was going to be a textile designer of some sort, until the throwing workshops. At those, taught by Stephen Baker, I found my love for the potters wheel! I went on to specialise in ceramics and carried on developing my work to how you see it today.

I use several different clays, but my favourite to use at the moment is white stoneware. I like the surface texture it has once thrown because, as it says in the name, it looks like stone. I always prefer a semi matt to a full matt glaze as I enjoy form more than surface design and I feel shiny glazes can sometimes distort the shape when you look at them.

Landscapes are where I get my initial ideas and I then allow the shapes and textures to develop naturally from this. I enjoy going out and taking my own pictures, at this point in time coastal landscapes are influencing me a lot. They’re so beautiful and can look so very different from one day to the next! As we all know, rough stormy seas look fierce and frightening where as a calm sunny day at the sea side is warm and inviting.

At the moment I’m interested in creating all sorts of things, for example; domestic ware- mugs, plates, bowls, cooking equipment; decorative items- oil burners, tea light holders, vases; and sculptural forms. I make items and sell them in beautiful shops, such as The Wishing Tree, and I also do commission work to design things for individuals as they request.

I’m currently renting a lovely little studio space in Pulham market with my friend Danielle Wade, who is the name behind Polly’s prints. It’s situated in The Gables Yard, opposite the green, and we’re lucky enough to share a courtyard with four other local crafts people.

Hi, I am Joy Peters, the crafter behind The Perfect Little Purse Company.

I have always loved to craft in so many ways ever since I was a child. I grew up with an expert sewer for a mother and it seems to have rubbed off and now it is my most favourite thing. I have been making bags/purses for about 3 years now and started selling on the internet and now, to my delight, in `The Wishing Tree’
What first made me want to start making handbags?
I had a dream about loads of different handbags. All of them black but every single design possible and I just thought I should be making bags! It sounds so cheesy but it really is true. I set about finding out how they were actually constructed and the first ones were quite ambitious beaded frame purses. These are tricky and quite time consuming. After that I found many more techniques and have got to the point now where most of my designs are my own. I do buy the odd must have pattern if I am allowed to sell the finished product. From time to time I make other things such as Christmas stockings and other decorations at seasonal times. Currently I am making little knitted animals (see blog for details). I do like to vary my work to keep me sharp. Who knows, maybe some knitted bags may roll out next. Watch this space.
What is your design process?
I am often asked how I go about designing a bag. Usually, it all starts with the fabric. I will see some I ‘have to have” and then set about finding a co-ordinate for the lining. This normally leads to several more. Once it all arrives I will decide which fabrics lend themselves to which designs I do. Sometimes they lead to new ones. Sometimes I design around new handles. Its mostly all about the fabric. My not so secret obsession.

The interesting stuff is that which I make to order. I really enjoy the custom work. Folk come to me with their own ideas and themes that I may not have ever thought of. Transforming someone else’s ideas is exciting as you never know where it will take you. Lots of my past works can be seen on my flickr page at

Fridge Magnets and Sentiments

It is such a pleasure to receive a small gift. And an even greater pleasure to give one. So affordable and such a diverse choice is available, almost everyone can be included. Yes we are talking about Signs and Fridge Magnets, cheeky, funny, naughty, deep and meaningful, tear-jerking sometimes, but always thought provoking.

They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, made from various materials too. Perfect for posting, slot them into a card for an extra birthday gift, or just send them to remind distant friends that you are thinking of them.
No sarky remarks, I hear you thinking……. you are used to me being a bit more nippy than this….Ha ha.. saving it till the end….or maybe the middle. Lots of these signs, magnets, etc are for a bit of a laugh, to raise a smile, for god sake be honest, we all need it these days hey….. Most of my Blog posts have a cat in somewhere, yep… even the cat has it’s own set of fridge magnets to remind us how important they are, yeh right!!! This has to be my all time favorite, mostly bought for men and boys, i hasten to add our best seller by far, slightly bigger and not quite the thing to pop in an envelope but as blunt as can be…..love it….. Laundry….

Did somebody say Chocolate Eggs??

My website is currently off line for a couple of days so, no good directing you there until it comes back up, we are changing hosts, well at least thats what I think Sam at Pixelwood said was happening, he is such a wizz and I, being so dizzy.....Monday should see it all sorted and then I can shout from the hilltops, if i can find any hills in Norfolk. My Twitter is as good as any Hill I know, and I have lived on the West Coast of Scotland (I miss it so).
Easter.....Bunnies......Chicks.....it all comes back to Chocolate though dosn't it? A new British survey has revealed that 9 out of 10 people like Chocolate. The tenth lies. - Robert Paul

"After a bar of chocolate one can forgive anybody, even one's relatives." I like that one!

"If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly."

So that can be the excuse this weekend when the kids look like they may be struggling.
Does Chocolate make you Dream?? I know cheese is supposed to, but hey who could get all exited about cheese? There isn't a whole weekend devoted to cheese either, not like it's as important as eating chocolate eggs for 3 days. Hold on a minite have we lost sight of the real meaning of Easter? Is Easter becoming too commercialised?
So I think, whilst devouring the last of the kids eggs and clearing up after making the Hot Cross Buns, I shall remember how we come to have all these excuses......

Whose idea was it anyway??

Before you ask, I put the giraffe picture in cos I liked it, and a lot of people refer to us as "the giraffe shop", this is really all about clocks, hence the clock picture. So...... whose idea was it to keep moving the clocks backwards and forwards? You can bet it was someone who didn't have Kids and someone who didn't have a job.
How are we all coping with it this time? I have a few friends on Facebook who have made comments about not being able to get the kids to bed and then not being able to get them up in the morning, yes I am one of those Mothers, ranting and raving......
but there is an up-side, lighter nights of course and......well that appears to be it. Ha, so we suffer sleep disturbance to be able to keep the curtains open longer and see the rotten English weather, what a great idea?
Shall I stop moaning, or have you already stopped reading? On the subject of clocks, we have some quirky little time tellers in stock at the moment, anyone like pigs or cats? Catseye, London, the suppliers of these, have a huge range of things we could all probably live without, but don't want to, and I am gradually adding the range to the shop and the website. We mostly have a clock in every room, this obsessional need to know what the time is. I used to stock a range of wine label clocks but the supply dried up. So having now found another supplier, there will be more in after Easter, by that time we should have adjusted to the hour change at least.
Well, time I got on with some serious work I guess, so toodle pip for now,

Putting it all into little boxes

Is it Human Nature or something?
I have spent a large part of weekend sorting out the kids toys and putting them into little boxes, for whatever reason, I am sure they would have prefered them all over the floor, especially the teeny bits of lego, don't you just love the way they hide in the pile of the carpet, waiting to strike as you walk barefoot across the room.
Our lives are so dominated by boxes, don't you think?? Well, most of us live in one, divided into smaller ones, we do, yeh??
I love my living box, I feel safe there and it keeps all my finest things together, my family....
So is it any wonder we use boxes to do just that, in oh so many ways, taking for granted, that what is in them, will be safe and protected. We also put our friends and aquaintences into boxes, imaginary ones of course, friends, panic not!!!
Boxes on my Facebook page take a look and see how we organise eachother, it's wickedly amusing, well I think so, put me in the box for "random" !

Do we cuddle as much as we used to??

Do we cuddle as much as we used to??

Now there's a question, When I was small I had a collection of cuddly toys all of which accompanied me into the land of sweet slumbers every night, even when I left home to venture into the world of adulthood, my scruffy and well loved cuddlies came with me. And still now, in my forties, I have a collection of special bears by my bedside.
So have you still got some of your loved ones?, who could, no doubt tell a few stories if only they had a voice, lol?? Are your children as attatched to their teddies, because mine don't seem to be, although they do go through phases of needing a fury friend and then it takes ages to find the one they want. Is it possibly because us Mums and Grannies don't seem to knit and sew as much these days and the emphasis is more on collectables for the shelves maybe??
Whatever the reason, I think it is a bit sad, I told my teddies all my troubles and fears and got great comfort from that, so I think it's time I gave the bedtime cuddle a bit of a revival, this year I will buy lots of bears for all my little people.

At The Wishing Tree we have a huge variety of cuddlies, I wonder why that is ?? Started off with a few cuddly Jelly cat elephants and giraffes and the odd zebra and a few cheeky looking monkeys, but it has kind of grown to large stocks of them now. We also stock Bears From Russ Berrie, and other suppliers, and have a few made by a local Lady too. variety is the spice of life and we certainly have that. Prices range from £2.99 upwards, and we are increasing our ranges all the time due to our customers becoming addicted to Jelly Cat, also more people are finding our website these days too. So don't let the cuddle become a thing of the past, keep your teddies near by and get one for someone close who needs a cuddle too. xx

New Year Fresh Flowers

This has been a difficult start to the year one way and another, and I have neglected my Blogging duties somewhat.
Some of my closer friends and customers may know about my Mother being unwell, she is now making good progress at home, with lots of TLC from all who are close.
So now I can put a small amout of time, more often to keep everyone up to date with the exiting things which are happening at The Wishing Tree
We have now introduced a new line, following many requests from our customers, we are able to bring you fresh flowers and potted plants. To start with this week we have beautiful Roses in a pallate of colours, and Daffodils to remind us that Spring is just around the corner. Mini Cyclemen in pots and Hyacinths too. Always popular and last for ages of course we have Spray Carnations. All these are from a local supplier and good quality, as well as affordably priced, so wander up the hill this weekend and give us a look.
Have to also mention we have a new stock of our ever popular Giraffes in this week, but be quick as they are wandering off quite swiftly.

Wishing all our customers a very Merry Christmas 2008 and a Happy New Year

As we are well known for our Giraffes, of all shapes and sizes I thought you may appreciate a giraffe greeting.
It has been a pleasure this year, welcoming so many new customers through the doors of The Wishing Tree in Long Stratton, Norfolk. Also, as we have developed the website it has been great to make wishes come true for so many customers from further afield, watch out for more improvements on our website in the new year. We hope everyone has enjoyed visiting us, as much as we have enjoyed creating the displays of wonderful things in the shop. We like to think we make your visits fun and interesting. In the new year we are going to give the shop a bit of a make-over, so keep coming in to see how it's all going. New and exiting stock to see as well as a few more of our theme nights and party nights for you too. We have hosted some great parties in the shop this year and hostesses have enjoyed spending their comission on lots of yummy goodies.
So that just leaves me the pleasure of thanking you all for supporting us and we hope to see you all in the new year for the January Sale which starts on Friday

Why do men hate christmas shopping ??

Are you a “Ho Ho” or a “Bah Humbug” ?? Well to be honest it don’t really matter, cos it is coming up for Christmas and like it or not you need to go and do a bit of Christmas shopping. Why? Because Her indoors and the kids are expecting you to. So what’s the plan?? You don’t want to get your ear bent or be wearing your christmas dinner, or heaven forbid be barred from handling the TV remote on the big day, so best you pop to the shops……..hang on a minuite though……..

Let me help you out here, We had this megga brill idea, goodness knows why, but We feel a bit compassionate to you guys, you only want a bit of peace and quiet after all. So We decided to invite you all over to our place, that is The Wishing Tree in Long Stratton, Norfolk, for a bit of a christmas bash. Hopefully you have already clicked that link and looked at the website, if not do it now!! It’s our party and we’re makin the rules.

Sharing the Norfolk Snow

Thought i would share the seasonal Norfolk snow with you all. As i have many visitors and friends in far off places, I thought some seasonal weather would be good. The Wishing Tree has been quiet today, and i think many people have braved the elemements and gone into the city to shop, I think they are now wishing they hadn't, as reports of overflowing carparks and queues at checkouts fill me with woe.

Thanx to all the Ladies

Hi all,
Just a note to say thanx to all of you who came to our Wishing Tree Ladies Cristmas Shopping Night. We had a great evening with lots of chocolates, to get us in the mood for the season of much eating. We woke up this morning to a covering of snow too, so now it is officially "the season to be Jolly". Watch out for announcments of our other special feature nights, we have a Childrens after school shopping night on Tuesday
2nd December, and we will stay open until 8pm on that evening, so you can come in straight after school or come later after tea if you prefer. We are handing out pop and sweeties for the kids and have lots of affordable pocket money gifts for kids to buy for their family friends and teachers. Much more fun than trailing round the busy city shops. Tell all yur friends and make it a date.
Also on the 11th December we will have our Blokes christmas shopping night, with beer and crisps etc. So no excuses for the perfect present this year, we are offering a free gift wrapping servie with this one. This unoaked Chardonnay from Australia
is a pale straw in the glass
with a nice fruity bouquet rising into the room.
On the swirl, it is citrusy and pineappley
and in the mouth the fine acid is mouth watering

Did We Have Fun or What??

Our happy Halloween all got off to an early start last night, we had great fun in the shop, re-opening at 6pm and warming ourselves with Helen's hot fruit punch until 10pm. Lauren from Norwich was here, reading Tarot, we all had a taste of what is in store for us in the next year, with her 12 month forcast. Indian Head massage was also on the menu, with Jill. Lauren and Jill are collectively know as "Pagan Moon" and can be found in the Norwich area at the Mind Body And Spirit Fairs. Or you can contact The Wishsing Tree to get their contact details. Whilst tracing our family tree, my sister recently discovered that we have a famous great uncle, the artist John Bond is relate to us on our Fathers side of the family. I have been doing a bit of research but havn't managed to make contact with this very talented gentleman from East Anglia, but look forward to doing this in the future. We are all very creative in our family and I would like to believe that this is one of the links to be greatful for. I have been so bold as to share some of his work and captions below, with kindness in my heart, and the desire to know more.

Hag stones and Halloween

Hag stones are a charm of folk magic that are found predominantly in European lore, and they are simply a stone with a hole in it. They are used to keep away hags or witches that may come a-knockin' at night time. If you were to hang one on your bed post you would prevent a hag from giving you a nightmare , and putting one in the stable would stop the hag from stealing your horses for a joyride and returning them in the morning exhausted, which was thought to occur often in older times. (Man, I hate it when they do that). Although hag stones are used to prevent encounters with beings such as witches, the stones are, in witch lore, considered to bring the finder good luck and fortune, and be a sign of favour from the goddess Diana.This conflict -it will ward them off, or bring them delight at finding good fortune - should make you consider if you want this to be your primary line of defence against invading nasties. There are a great many charms to ward against such things, from the simple horseshoe to complicated spells. Protection has never been this easy!! -Please note that I am referring to hags and witches as separate things. They are different things, and many modern witches find the term to be very uncomplimentary (crazily enough).

SHOPPING - NIGHTMARE OR NOT????

I've just returned from a trip to Tesco's, and while eating my lunch had a few thoughts, which i will share.

Thank the Lord that my children are all at school now and I didn't have the dubious pleasure of taking them to the supermarket with me! My heart went out to all the poor mums in there with the little ones in the trolley seat, grabbing stuff off the shelves and filling the already overloaded barrow with attractively wrapped junk. Aren't the manufacturers utterly brilliant at disguising complete rubbish as every child's dream, and don't you just know that once home it'll more likely be in the bin before bedtime. Those advertising folk have alot to answer for.....

Being a child-free shopper today I'm glad to say I avoided this expensive wastefulness at a time when we can all least afford it. The credit crunch is hitting so many of us, but the children (rightly) have little understaniing of the problems their parents may be facing. With Christmas well on the way now (only 12 weeks to go!) the reality of doing Christmas on a tight budget is hitting us all.

At our shop we're reacting to the current financial situation by trying to stock products that offer true value for money, yet still retaining that 'quirky and unusual' feel that we are so well known for. PARACETAMOL AND ASTHMA IN KIDS

Todays news is buzzing with the statement about the belief ,that we are giving our kids too much medicine containing paracetamol. In doing this we are supposed to be increasing the risk of asthma developing in our dear children.

Do we believe this to be true? Ok, the incidence of asthma in kids is on the increase, but we are also well justified to blame a whole host of other things for our childrens breathing problems. It may also be a good idea to look at the ingredients list on the bottle of infant paracetamol suspension. you will notice sweeteners, colours and flavorings are often there. I know from experience that all of these can contribute to various side effects. Question is how do we know that it is not one or all of these ingredients causing the asthma, i know that the sweetener Aspartaine is a high contender for the blame in our family. So maybe we shouldn't be so quick to blame the humble paracetamol, and ask that the pharmacutical manufacturers to concider making a suspension with natural ingredients to deliver the painkiller to our infants, and leave the flavouring to us parents. I find yoghurt a good way of disguising the taste or a nice fruit smoothie.

To ensure your children are ready for the winter, it is a good idea to boost their immune system with some extra vitamins and minerals. MONDAY MORNING SUNSHINE

It is a beautifully sunny Monday morning and ballons are beginning to be found now. That's 3 now and only another 97 to go, well not really as several are still wrapped round the telephone wires in Long Stratton and a few are in the field behind my house in Topcroft, never really got off the ground, but the kids enjoyed letting them go friday morning, who am i to argue. The finds have all been in more or less the same area, Poringland, Brooke and now Shotesham. Prizes will be won by the launcher and the finder, so keep the calls coming, we will decide the top prize for the best story and anounce it at the end of next week. Iwill just share this with you though, Kate phoned me this morning and said she had seen on the blog that her balloon had been found, she had taken it home to Kirstead to let it go in the garden, reported finding was in Poringland so it went a little way up the road, it was then taken home to Mrs F's house, can you believe it, in Kirstead. We are now offering round trip balloon flights.....ha ha.

That's it from me for now i need to go and look through the Willow Tree catalogue and do that order i was telling you about the other day. We have some great gift ideas in stock from the Willow Tree range so have a look on our website and make a start on that Christmas list.

THE MORNING AFTER

Well that was some birthday party. The Wishing Tree would like to say a big thank you to all the people who came to see us yesterday. We had a great time and the party went on until 10pm as planned. The pavement lined with candles created a great welcome to those who arrived after dark and the dry and balmy summer evening meant that we could enjoy the evening from outside the shop as well as inside. We were joined by family, friends, local customers and those far travelled too. It was the birthday party that the shop and all attending deserved.

All the balloons were launched, there was a bit of cheating towards the end, by tying a few balloons together, but this trick back fired and the blue bunch is now decorating the telephone wires high above the shop. All other launches were sucessfull as far as i know. The first balloon sighting was reported today. Balloon No 53 belonging to Kate from The EDP Norfolk Magazine, was found in the road in Poringland this morning by a Mr Fryman, he galently retrieved the balloon and took it home for his daughter who was celebrating her birthday today. Mr fryman will be recieving a prize for reporting the balloon found, thank you sir. All balloon sightings should be reported via the website where there is a link to follow, or by phone using the number on the balloon tag. Watch this space for further sightings.

There is still some cake left for those who missed out last night and if you pop in the shop we will be sure to offer it to all our customers tomorrow. The cake has arrived as you see, it was made by Cheryl, who makes wonderful cakes in all shapes and sizes for all occasions. The shop has been buzzing this morning and lots of balloons have been launched, we are having some more delivered this afternoon so come in and get yours, the race is on.

HOW'S THE WEEK GOING SO FAR?

Well, Saturday was busy in the shop with plenty people in for balloons, and it was perfectly windy, so lets hope we see some coming back from far off places. I myself let the first "test" balloon go and it flew off up the A140 towards Norwich, on it's own little journey. Balloons were popular with both kids and adults, no one is to grown up to take part. We have some more in the shop through the week with the big final launch on Thursday, so do remember to come along, remember we are open till 10pm.

Yesterday, despite the duck weather, The Wishing Tree took a stand along to the Relish Restaurant and Bar in Newton Flotman, to be part of their suppliers market, which was held in the car park and patio area. What a great community spirit there is in Newton Flotman, it rained cats and dogs but loads of locals came to see what was going on and when the sun came out everyone enjoyed the afternoon, in the true fashion of country life. Well done Rachel and Jeremy and all the staff.

Talking of raining cats and dogs, what is this rumour of an Indian summer happening this week. I hope it is true 'cos we want to be able to see lots of people out and about this week, we have got 10% off all our goodies in the shopfor the birthday period, so come in and get a bargain. Also new stock coming in today and tomorrow, so be first to see it. New range of chunky wooden beaded jewellery sets, lots of great colours.

Today is the day we have all been waiting for, The Wishing Tree is now 1 year old, it's official.

It dosn't seem possible that it was a whole year ago that we first opened the doors.

So on with the week and on with the fun, the ballons are starting to come in and go out already, the wind is strong today so we are hoping they will be far travelled when we hear back. It only costs £1 to enter and launch your balloon, and a prize for each one returned as well as a special prize for the one which creates the best story or travels the furthest. The people who return the balloons also get a prize as a reward for playing the game. So come in and join us and get involved. The balloons have been supplied by Court House Occasions, the card and gift shop in Long Stratton. so we thank them for helping us with this and hope you visit their shop too while you're here.

The ballons will be available for purchase all week until Thursday night at 10pm when we close.

100 HELIUM BALLOONS

Seen as we have a thing about turquoise in The Wishing Tree, we thought we would have 100 helium balloons at our party. In turquoise of course, what else. So from Saturday the balloons will begin to appear in the window so keep watching out for that and "pop" in and buy one if you get the chance.

The idea is to buy a balloon and we will tag it, then give you the chance to write a message for the finder of the said balloon, which you can then release where and when you like. The website address www.thewishingtree.biz will be written on the ballon with instructions for the finder to go to the website and contact us with the details. If you balloon comes back to us we will give you a prize. The best prize goes to the balloon that has travelled the furthest, and has the best story to tell. We will be reporting on the balloons travels in this blog so come back and see what is happenning. We are hoping to release the bulk of the balloons on Thursday 11th Sept at the main party event, open till 10pm remember with a candlelit evening outside in the balmy summer air, well it's good to be optimistic about these things i guess, we don't want the weather to put a dampner on our event so keep everything crossed for us please.

I have ordered 100 turquoise helium ballons, so there will be a sea of blue on the ceiling in the shop all day, that has to worth a picture in the EDP i am sure. If anybody at the EDP reads this blog then maybe they will be coming along and do a bit of a report about a new business not only surviving but thriving during the credit crunch.

Another idea was a candle lit pavement outside the shop. We are gonna be open until 10pm so it may give it a nice atmosphere as long as it isn't raining. What we need is that Indian Summer.

This is just a quick blog about getting your business noticed out there in the big wide world.

It is so easy to spend loads of cash on advertising and then not really know if you have gained any new customers from your investment.

IS GOING TO BE 1 YEAR OLD

I have pleasure in announcing the first birthday of THE WISHING TREE. To all those who are familliar with what we are all about, i hope you will join me in the party week, starting 6th September 2008 to celebrate 1 year of trading at The Street Long Stratton in Norfolk.

To all who are not familliar, I would encourage you to come along and let us introduce you to all the wonderful things we have to offer.

There will be lots of special things happening during this week beginning 6th Sept and on the 11th we will be having an all day party in the shop and staying open until 10 oclock in the evening.

I will be announcing all the plans nearer the time so you will need to watch this blogspot for a bit more info and make sure you don't miss out.

I can reveal that there will be a birthday cake and lots of special offers over the period of the week, i am looking for my customers to come up with a few ideas as to what they would like to see as part of the week so if you can let me know wishtree@hotmail.co.uk or call the shop

The whole idea is to have fun of course so invite all the people you like and make sure that FUN is first on the adgenda.

With our Wishing Tree Parties we put our hostesses in the party mood by arriving with a free gift. Like you we want the party to be a success. Once the stock is unloaded and set out ready for the guests, it is a special touch to have a chat and a preview with the hostess, if we know what the hostess has her eye on from the start we can help her to reach maximum commission levels to get the item she would like. Why would anyone want to buy a giraffe in Norfolk anyway?

Because they are so elegant and beautiful and they make great pets of course.

We have a reputation at The Wishing Tree for sending people off down the road with a giraffe in a box or a bag, wearing a big smile on their faces 'cos they know they're turning a few heads.

These hand carved beauties are from Bali in Indonesia, and are sourced from fairly traded outlets, they come in a range of sizes from tall to tiny.

They make a great talking point and are very collectable, start off with one and before you know it the whole family are gathering round.
